2017 has proven to be a busy year, and we are excited to show off a recent project. We recently launched a custom, responsive, Drupal multisite for AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners) which is headquartered here in Lexington, KY. For those of you who do not know about AAEP, they are an amazing member-based organization which focuses on the awareness of ethical medical horse practice using an equine veterinarian and education for veterinary members, they are staffed by incredible employees whom we had the pleasure working with.

This new multisite brought its own unique challenges including an integration with an extensive membership database, incorporating SSO (single sign on) for their members between the multisite, and the display of dynamic content based on whether or not you have a membership with AAEP. Our team stepped up and produced a stunning website for AAEP to use as a tool for their members

New Features

  • Responsive, Mobile-Friendly Interface
  • Drupal Multisite
  • Single Sign On between the Drupal multisite
  • Default HTTPS with a green address bar SSL certificate
  • Premium (Dynamic) Content for Members
  • Flat Graphic Design

Responsive, Mobile-Friendly Interface

Our team developed a clean, responsive website using Foundation as the framework behind the site. This means no matter the size of your screen, the website will automagically optimize its layout for an enjoyable viewing experience. This has resulted in a new interaction for AAEP members and potential members, as they are able to interact with the AAEP website no matter where they are.

Drupal Multisite

AAEP brought us the challenge of developing three separate websites together as one. By using Drupal’s Multisite feature, our team successfully merged three independent websites into one codebase. AAEP now benefits by being on a single instance of Drupal, instead of three. This also played a vital role for us setting up single sign on for their members.

Single Sign On

One of the challenges of this project was developing the ability for AAEP’s members to only have to log in to the site once. Previously, when switching between the different sites, members would have to login to each site separately. With the use of Drupal’s multisite and working with AAEP’s database organization, our team achieved a seamless SSO integration between all three AAEP websites. Login once, and you’re done. Needless to say, they were thrilled!

HTTPS with Green Address Bar Certificate

Google has put a huge emphasis on website security in 2017. At Able Engine we take our clients’ security seriously, and AAEP was no exception. The team integrated a multi-domain green bar SSL certificate, showing members who were submitting private information on the website that they are protected. By defaulting all traffic to HTTPS (rather than HTTP which does not have the secure certificate), no traffic on their website is without protection. This brought AAEP peace of mind when interacting with their members, and it brought their members comfort when submitting private information.

Dynamic Content for Members

AAEP is a host of wonderful information to their veterinarian members. Because of this, they have certain content that is only available to their paid member database. Our team produced unique designs and layouts of content depending on if you are signed in as a member or not. As a result, AAEP members are able to access important resources immediately when they visit the AAEP website while giving potential members the benefits of joining the organization.

Flat Graphic Redesign

Our team worked intensely with the AAEP staff to produce a custom, clean, and interactive design to serve their members and potential members. Our designs, architecture, calls-to-action, navigation, and content were all created with AAEP’s target audience in mind. Our goal is to always make our clients site the easiest and intuitive experience for their viewers. AAEP now has a custom-designed and developed website to serve the needs of their members.

We have been honored to work with the amazing team at AAEP over the past several months, bringing their website from concept to a reality. If you are looking for a new online presence this year with the level of experience that was brought into the development of AAEP, shoot us a message about how we could help. If you are still unsure, just ask AAEP about their experience working with Able Engine, or visit the list of clients that we have served to show you who trusts us with their online presence.
